Polychrome Asian Monk w/Guitar Figurine

This is a figurine of a Chiense priest made by Nymphenburg in the early 20th century. The figure comes from a series of 17 or 18 figurines I think - this being one of the harder to find pieces. He is the polychrome version of the priest playing a lute, a guitar like instrument. Originally it was off course modelled by Bustelli in the 18th century. I own a few other pieces from this series as well and they are probably my favorite figures besides the commedia dell'Arte off course. The figurine is of a gentleman dressed in a flowing robe with an interesting hat and playing his instrument. Hand painted perfectly with lots of detail. A superb piece that is stunning and elegant looking. This figure is amazingly modeled and one can see why Bustelli is still considered the greatest modeler of all time. The piece is 6.875 inches tall, 3 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep. It is in perfect condition. The figurine is marked with the impressed shield mark underneath as well as the impressed numbers 288 and over 0 with another impressed shield mark to the top of the base. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
